I wanted to add some info regarding Liberty Hill-Springfield Cemetery near Thorndale. My great-granduncles, Alva James (called Joe) and Velmons (called Babe) are buried there. They both drowned on July 4, 1905. I learned of the story after finding the following website a couple of years ago:. HTTPS://ccserving.com/www/mcinfo/geography/cemeteries/liberty_hill_cr432/default.htm . There are gravestone photos on the website. It does look like the cemetery needs regular maintenance.
It is likely that my grandfather's brother is buried here, as well as my 2nd great-grandfather, R.H. Rabb. As R.H. Rabb was a trustee in the Allen Chapel AME Church in Taylor, and regularly attended political and agricultural conventions (incl. National Negro Farmers Congress of 1913), there is definitely a need to preserve this cemetery, for his descendants and for the posterity of a once thriving farm community.
