There is a new app for cell phones that has great potential for historical preservation
and historical tourism. Georeader uses the GPS on your phone to allow you to place a
talking point tied to the GPS location. You merely visit the location and to add the
talking point you type into your phone a brief message concerning information,
historical interests, whatever you wish.
Anyone with the Georeader app on their phone will hear the talking point - it will be
read aloud via their phone.
I see that several talking points have been added in Milam County so far. The I&GN
Railroad in Rockdale has been added, along with Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts,
William Persky Historical Marker and Sharp Presbyterian Church in Sharp, Massilon Farley
Historical Marker and St Monica's Catholic Church in Cameron among others.
The app is free to download and use. At some point they may charge for the app but they
have advised they will 'grandfather' anyone joining now so they will not be charged in
the future.

This app is available to Android phones now - It will soon be available for Apple
Iphones.
The app is easy to download and install on your phone.
Please advise if you add any talking points and we will track them on this site
When adding sites, please ensure that you mark the correct location.
