THC Marker Dedications Saturday For Two Locations

Two historic Rockdale area locations will get Texas Historical Commission markers designating them as places of special importance Saturday.
A 10 a.m. ceremony is set for Sugarloaf Mountain (CR 264), followed by a 2 p.m. gathering at Apache Pass (FM 908).
On the Sugarloaf Mountain program are Jackie Thornton, Gause 4-H Club, Kelly Lee-Cooper, Pete Lawson, Joy Graham and Dr. Lucile Estell.
Unveiling will be by Darlene Anglen, Elaine Baumann, Robert Gaston and Mary Neely.
On the Apache Pass program are Geri Burnett, Rockdale Boy Scouts, Joy Graham, Ray Ochoa and Dr. Estell.
Unveiling will be by Makenlee, Raymond and Bradley Worley, grandchildren of the Kit Worley family, owners of Apache Pass.
HISTORIC - Apache Pass (L) and Sugarloaf Mountain will receive Texas Historical Commission markers Saturday. Ceremony at “the mountain” begins at 10 a.m. and “the pass’s” ceremony starts at 2 p.m. Both have been identified as “places of interest” on the recently established El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail.
