This is a postcard inviting
George A. Doss, a member of the 4th
Texas Infantry Company G, CSA, to a
reunion to be held in LaGrange, Texas
on June 12, 1916.
The card is in German and is roughly
translated:
'Again I have the honor to invite my
comrades of Co. G 4th TC Camp Van der
Heuvel to an assembly in La Grange on
the 12th June. At 10:00 AM we will
hold "Roll Call" and I would be very
glad if everyone who is still alive
will say loud and clear 'here'.
Looking forward to the reunion, I am
greeting in old friendship....'
The card is addressed to George A.
Doss of Rockdale, Texas who was a
private in this unit
Texas Drivers License dated 03-24-1936 issued to
Fannie Myrtle Caywood - (to the best of my
knowledge, Myrtle Caywood had never driven a car)
Letter from Kokernot Oil
Company to Mr. George Doss
of Rockdale, TX. Letter is
signed by James E. (Pa)
Ferguson - who had been
impeached as Governor and
later successfully helped
his wife win the Texas
Governorship.
